Featured Artist – Charles Glenn Group
We continue to book national entertainers throughout the country, but did you know we represent some of the best event bands in the business?
This week, we’re featuring the Charles Glenn Group. Charles Glenn is a world class entertainer best known for singing the National Anthem for the Saint Louis Blues and has a band of some of the tightest musicians and singers to match. Charles frequently turns heads with his rendition of “I Will Always Love You” and his 80’s rock vocal pyrotechnics.
We asked Charles a few questions to help you get to know him a little bit better:
Who’s your favorite band?
*Laughs* I have two: Steely Dan and Earth Wind & Fire.
What are your favorite songs to perform?
“Burst In With The Dawn” (Al Jarreau), “Don’t Stop Believing” (Journey), and “Pamela” (TOTO)
*you can see Charles’ rendition of Pamela in his promo video at the bottom of this post
What should people know about you?
I don’t sound like I look, and I don’t look like I sound.
What’s the craziest thing that ever happened at a performance?
While not with my band, I was invited to go on stage at a Meat Loaf show. Before they asked me to come on stage they told me if Meat Loaf likes you, he does weird things, but if he doesn’t like you he won’t talk to you. As requested, I go out and sing “Honkey Tonk Woman”. I’m walking off stage after the song is over and Meat Loaf grabs me to keep singing. We’re ad-libing back and forth, each time singing a little bit higher than the last time. The crowd’s going wild and Meat Loaf sings what was supposed to be the last note… but then I sing a note higher than him. Before I knew it, Meat Loaf picked me up, lifts me over his shoulder, and body slams me on stage and says he “hates me”.
Bruised and in shock, I start walking off the stage for the second time. Meat Loaf grabs my arm and says “look, I love your voice, finish the night off with me” and I did! Afterwards we went backstage and he talked to me for a long time, was a very enjoyable experience!
