For this featured artist post we sat down with our friend Mike Schlipp, the leader of the accurately titled wedding band, My Friend Mike. Don’t believe us? Just check out their reviews on the Knot.
After working together on a handful of events in 2013, we agreed that we should be working together more and haven’t looked back since. Mike is one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet and loves to go the extra mile to take care of our clients. Don’t tell him this but he makes our jobs a little too easy! With a uniquely soulful voice and a band made up of outstanding musicians, it’s no wonder that they were the St. Louis Magazine A-List Party Band of the Year in 2015.

Who are some of your favorite artists?
I think Bruno Mars just slays it right now and course, Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson for all time.
What’s your favorite song to play as My Friend Mike?
My favorite part of the night is when we play “Time of My Life” and try and figure out ahead of time what couples are actually going to try the run and lift move. It’s always funny to see somebody actually pull it off, however it is rare…
What should people know about you or the band?
Gosh I don’t know, I don’t really want anybody knowing anything about me. Good luck finding out my secrets! (laughs). But seriously, what makes My Friend Mike different is that this band is full of the nicest, most down-to-earth people I’ve ever met and worked with. Everybody is so approachable and is just the nicest and a joy to play with them. All class-act characters.
What’s one of the most wildest things that happened at one of your performances?
Well, one of our brides stole Zack’s trombone and led a conga line around the dance floor one time. There’s a photo floating around somewhere…
